FAQ | Pandanda.org
What is Pandanda.org?
Pandanda.org (formerly known as Project Pandanda) is a non-profit recreation of the popular Red Panda MMO game where players can relive nostalgic moments, enjoy regular updates, join fun community events, and connect with fellow players. Pandanda.org is not affiliated with Sunleaf Studios, the original developers of the game.
How can I play Pandanda.org?
The best way to play Pandanda.org is by using our game client (available for Windows, Mac, and Linux). You can also play in your browser, but performance may vary due to Ruffle's limited support. On mobile, you can try Puffin Browser (subscription may be required) for most stable performance, though may not be optimal. Ruffle support is also limited on mobile devices. If you use a browser supporting Flash Player, we recommend using it only for Pandanda or other Flash content. Avoid using it as your main browser or entering sensitive information.
Can I play Pandanda.org for free?
Yes, Pandanda.org is free to play. Any optional in-game upgrades can be purchased using Pandanda coins, our in-game currency, as the project is non-profit.
How can I support Pandanda.org?
The best way to support us is by playing the game, joining our community, and spreading the word. If you'd like to donate, you can visit our Ko-Fi page. All donations go toward server and maintenance costs. No team members are paid - we are all volunteers, and donations do not include in-game rewards. Thank you for supporting Pandanda.org!
How active is Pandanda.org?
Along with everything you love from the original game, we are constantly adding new and original content such as locations, items, quests, features, and more. In addition, events and seasonal festivals are routinely held.

What is Leaderboard?
The Leaderboard lets you compete with other pandas in Pandanda's minigames and see how you rank against other players each week.
Currently, Bunny Chase and Ghosts of Misty Hill have a Leaderboard. The top 10 best-performing players are displayed, with the player who finishes in first place at the end of the week becoming the winner.
A new Leaderboard session begins every Sunday at 15:00 PM Pandanda Time, when the previous session ends and the Leaderboard resets for the new week.
Where can I find the Leaderboard?
You can view the Leaderboard for all games by clicking the Leaderboard button in the Play page navigation bar.
How do I qualify for and score on the Leaderboard?
You must play at least 50 rounds during the week to qualify. Your Score is based on your average points across the rounds you play, with the number of rounds also taken into account. A Bayesian average is used to make scores from fewer rounds less affected by luck, while giving more weight to a player's actual average as they play more.
Players who perform well and continue playing throughout the week have the best chance of reaching the top of the Leaderboard.
Leaderboard participation is intended to reflect your own performance. Players should not deliberately manipulate game results or use accounts to gain an unfair competitive advantage. Unfair activity may result in removal from the Leaderboard or further action under the Terms of Service.
What are the Line Four and Pen the Pig tournaments?
Special tournament events for Line Four and Pen the Pig are held every two months, giving players another opportunity to compete for exclusive rewards.
You can find more information about upcoming tournaments in the in-game calendar in Pandanda.
What are the winner rewards?
Each Leaderboard has a reward progression based on how many times you win:
- 1st win: A special medal displayed on your player card and a background item themed around the game you won.
-
2nd win: A special winner reward:
- Bunny Chase: Golden Net item. Your net also appears gold during game rounds.
- Ghosts of Misty Hill: Golden Ghost Catcher item. Your catcher also appears gold during game rounds.
If a player wins again after already receiving all rewards, a reward is instead given to the highest-ranked player who is eligible to receive one. The returning winner receives 5,000 coins instead, giving more players a chance to earn the special rewards.
For the Line Four and Pen the Pig tournaments, the top three players receive the full set of rewards: a medal, a game-themed background, and the winner rug. There is no winner progression for these tournaments, with all three rewards awarded based on final placement. The tournament winner also receives a coin prize.
You can preview all rewards in our news page post.
Why am I unable to login?
Pandanda.org may be down for maintenance. Please check out our Discord server for more information. If this issue persists, please contact us!
Why does my game lag?
Unfortunately, because Flash is no longer supported and has technical limitations, the game may experience lag on modern computers. Here are some ways to improve performance:
- Shrink the game size by shrinking your client or browser window
- Lower the Graphics Quality settings in the game's Options panel
- Make sure no heavy applications are running on your computer
Through playing Pandanda in a browser, you may notice unstable performance, as the game runs via Ruffle - a Flash Player emulator that requires more resources and does not fully support Pandanda.
What should I do if I have trouble downloading the client?
The client installer for Windows contains 2 false positives in the VirusTotal scan from unknown or unreliable antiviruses.
- 1 of them is available on the installer due to it being an unknown executable to Microsoft
- 1 of them is available on any OS due to a library [es5-ext-main] that we use
Windows Defender may detect the client installer as unsafe due to it being an unknown executable to Microsoft. However, we can assure you it is not malicious in any way and you can safely allow it to run.
The client for Mac is not signed with an Apple Developer certificate. As a non-profit project, we are unable to cover the high annual cost of an official Apple Developer account. As a result, you may see a 'Cannot Be Verified' warning when opening the app for the first time and will need to manually allow it to run. We assure you that the app is completely safe to use. To install the Pandanda.org client, please visit our Play page for more details.
